Frank Lerner is in his mid-forties,
and is the former Chief Corpsman of the SSRN Seaview. When Dr. Jamison and
Admiral Nelson discovered the man’s intuitive sensitivity for medicine, they
encouraged him to begin serious medical studies. He graduated from the
University of California at Santa Barbara, first with his undergraduate degree
and then with a Master’s Degree in Biochemical Anatomy. He laughingly told
Jamison that with his background in aliens and the like, he should be teaching a
course in alien anatomy. He took his Medical Degree at the University of
California at Los Angeles in a special accelerated program because of his
medical training and experience on the Seaview .
Once his studies were finished, he
returned to the Institute to work with Will Jamison, expanding the Clinic to a
full fledged hospital and succeeding Jamison as CMO of the Seaview in her later
years. He then later succeeded Jamison as the head of the Med Center, and
was also instrumental in bringing Rachel Adams, and Janece Young to the Medical
Staff.
Frank is a bachelor, with very few
attachments, except for one young woman, who, to his misfortune, is in love with
someone else. She regards him as a close friend and he has become
accustomed to the role. In one sense, it has given him the focus to
concentrate on the Med Bay development, as well as the health and well being of
the Institute families, just as Will Jamison did before him. |
